Hello
Whenever I upload my videos to YouTube the quality loss immense. I know that this is normal but I've seen other videos of the same game that look stunning. So, obviously, it has something to do with the way I encode my footage. Over the last 2 days I've tried quite many different settings without any success at all, that's why I am here now.
Raw footage (if anyone wants to give it a shot)

781 jpgs, 337 mb, 30 frames/sec
Latest encoded clip (with VirtualDub)

Same game but way better quality (not mine)

Has anyone an idea why my clips look so bad? I'm running out of ideas..

i got your files and will look at them tomorrow. holy sh*t the source file was rather large.......
the one you are comparing to doesn't appear to be a screen capture. if you look, starting at 1:20 in the video goes out of focus for awhile. it had to be a cam. -
Cool, thanks!
I'm pretty sure that's a blur effect at 1:20 though. :P -
looking over your vid, the actual video quality is good. the problem seems to be the dude on the mouse. a bit twitchy are you? all that minute movement is causing the encoder fits. if you smooth out your mouse the video will be fine and not cause headaches.
here's what i made with premiere pro cs4 - 1280x720 avc mp4 @ ~ 1000kbps. bitrate's too low but i had to keep it under 6mb to post here. i don't think i could make it any better than yours even with a higher bitrate.
i still think the other was cammed off a monitor
sequence%2001.mp4 -
That's exactly what I thought as well after having watched some more gaming videos. The fast movement totally deteriorates the quality. I'm not sure but could the use of a different matrix improve the quality?
Thanks for your effort, though 1'000kps is definitely too low

even putting a higher bitrate or other codec ending to it won't help. the camera(mouse) moves faster than the screen can update, so the video on screen and recorded blurs a bit. old high quality analog monitors might have an edge with 100+ htz refresh rates if you have one around.

That's it!
Just tested it and it looks so much better.

50fps and max bitrate
Thanks!
