hi there,
i have been trying to find a good way to record the screen from flash video sites. the reason that i want to record rather than download the flash video is because the download function is not always available with all flash video sites [e.g. TV channel specific sites].
so far i have tried windows media encoder and camstudio but i find that the output file is always blocky, the colors are often wrong and that there may be a large timing distance between frames. i have tried recording at high quality but this doesn't seem to make a difference either.
does anyone have any ideas?
thanks!

Have you tried replay media catcher? It has worked with most flash video sites that I have tried. Or maybe you want free tools?

Replay media catcher doesn't work on a lot of sites anymore. Especially Hulu and similar. Adobe forced them to disable the ability to download rtmpe streams.
It sucks too because replay media catcher was really good.
Your best bet is replay video capture.
It does a screen capture that will work with all flash video sites. The thing is you can't use your pc while it is recording because it will record everything that is happening on your screen (at least in the area of your screen that you define).Donadagohvi (Cherokee for "Until we meet again") -
thanks for those replies guys,
actually it isn't a downloader that i am looking for-i really need a screen recorder-preferably freeware.
do you think there is any chance of being able to use windows media encoder for the live recording of flash videos? i am wondering if it is just the settings that i have wrong. but perhaps it could be that windows media encoder is not equipped to deal with live flash videos.
does anybody know the optimal settings for recording flash video in windows media encoder?
thanks!

Well, I've only tried Camstudio for that (recording SWFs, anyway). What browser are you using? There are a number of extensions and Greasemonkey scripts available for Firefox, for example, that might be able to download the 'problem' videos... maybe. I know there's also some add-ons/widgets available for Internet Explorer and Opera as well. (Not that I can remember what they were...)
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
