  1. it looks like your vegas 9 pro install might be bad. i installed the fraps demo and then vegas will use your video. it will render as mc avc or sonyavc just fine and the custom tab works. here's the sample rendered as sony avc.

    I really have to agree with poisondeathrays replys, that if you have FRAPS installed, Vegas should respond properly when your clips are imported into it if everything is working correctly. The workarounds are basically makeshift attempts that really shouldn't be necessary. This was more apparent when the tests that worked in Vegas on my PC, did not work on blecaps. When all else fails, re-install.

    After the OP posted his sample clip, I noticed the jumpiness as well. Converted the clip to DV-AVI so I could easily step through the frames w. VDub. Of the 42 frames in the clip, there are 6 different positions where there is no motion difference at all between sets of either 2 or 3 adjacent frames. Could it be a capture issue with the PC, where if it can't keep up with the set framerate, it is duplicating frames? You might want to experiment with frame sizes and rates before you commit a clip to your final movie. Maybe the gurus here can shed more light on this.

    EDIT: add minidv2dvd to the agreement as well. I was writing while his post came in

    Sorry i tried selecting Render as, but i couldn't find lagarith or huffyuv format to save it. Am i doing something wrong here?

    I reinstalled Sony Vegas and i now can render it as Sony AVC format. But the resolution seems smaller tho, i tried changing the settings to match my original fraps which is 1440x900. Then i change the resolution higher but the quality isn't very good.

    Select
    Render as
    Video for Windows
    Template = Uncompressed
    Custom
    Video tab
    Video Format

    Then choose codec.
    You will also find Cineform here.

    PS: The above is from Vegas Pro 8c. I haven't had time yet to install V9
