i got problems with VirtualDub. When i try to play a AVI with AC3 Audio it says no audio decompressor is found. So i install AC3 ACM and it doesnt solve it. AC3Filter doesnt either. i tried converting the AC3 to MP3 with VirtualDubmod but when im trying to save it as a .wav, it says no audio decompresser is found. Any ideas?

All i want is to reconvert the AVI with mp3 audio

VirtualDub works thru the VfW interface, whereas AC3Filter uses DirectShow.
Are you using a recent version of VirtualDub? ( mine is 1.8.8 )

All i want is to reconvert the AVI with mp3 audio
Extract the ac3 stream with AVI-Mux GUI,
then use eac3to for downmixing it to stereo and recompress as MP3 with LAME.

Not sure why you'd want to destroy an AVI with a nice 5.1 AC3 audio track by replacing it with a low quality stereo mp3 file. You're not saving much disc space by doing this. IMO, it's not worth the trouble.

You should not be having any trouble playing the file if you are using a new version of Virtualdub with the AC3-ACM and AC3 Filter.

I would install an up to date version of Virtualdub and also install all of the plugins except for the mp4 plugin which conflicts with the Quicktime plugin.

You could just use AviDemux to copy the video and convert the audio to 2 channel mp3 if that's what you want.
