  1. I have read the profile for the SONY DVP-S336 and for a while it has stated that SVCD is NOT supported. Recently someone stated that:

Plays SVCD's produced with TMPGEnc template
and burnt with Ulead DVD MovieFactory yet to
    check Nero
Didn't support menu just played tracks
    see notes page 22
of the manual that came with it (Australia)

Player displays Super VCD in the top right corner
    as disc starts.
But many other posts state the opposite.

Is this a red herring or has anybody elso had any luck authoring an SVCD which works on this player - and how?

I have tried a short clip using TMPGenc PAL SVCD template and also XSVCD (parameters unknown) burnt using NERO - both failures...

  2. They may be using the header hack, meaning they just put a VCD header on a SVCD file. Do so at your own risk, since compatability is a crap shoot.

  3. Try this:

    1. Open TMPGenc
    2. Load Video
    3. Load Audio
    4. Load Template (SVCD)
    5. Following Encode.
    6. File
    7. MPEG Tools
    8. Merge & Cut
    9. Add Audio/Video File
    10. Choose MPEG 1 (non-standard)
    11. Save as a different file name.
    12. Open NERO
    13. Choose VCD
    14. Uncheck standard Compliant
    15. Drag into Nero
    16. Write CD

If that doesn't work. Substitute step 8 with demultiplex then multiplex.
