Ok - I am using the newest version of TMPGEnc and am having real trouble with converting my DivX files into Mpeg - the picture is always slightly jerky which is really noticable when there is a fast-moving picture - I have also tried using some other encoding proggys but the results are always the same
This is my system:
Athlon XP 1600+ (clocked at 1400Mhz)
512MB DDR RAM
2x 60GB WD HDD with 7200rpm (combined with RAID)
ATi Raedon 8500 Gfx Card
Just in case it helps?! I wouldn't have thought that such a system would have any trouble encoding an Mpeg smoothley![]()
Any ideas?

This could well be a frame rate issue. If your Divx files are encoded in NTSC film at 23.97 FPS and you use Tmpgenc to encode to Pal at 25fps it inserts extra frames to make up the required FPS. I would guess other encoders would do the same. To check the frame rate of your Divx, either right click and select proerties in win2k or XP. If using win 9x load the file into Vdub and use file->properties from there. If possible re-encode into Mpeg at the same frame rate. If you must convert to another format search the forums for threads on how to converst NTSC->Pal and vice versa. This is a complex process but can be done.
