I don't know if this is in the right place, but it is about DVD-R. I just got a portable SD-P91SKN and I was wondering if I were to burn movies, songs, and other stuff onto that disc would it come up with them? If I had a couple of movies and songs would it bring up a list like if you were to put in a cd-r with songs.
For instance, if I put the disc in would it come up with a menu like so,

    song
    song
    song
    movie tittle
    movie tittle
    movie tittle
    movie tittle
    song
    song

PLease USE a better subject. I have changed it this time.

It's called authoring...so use an dvd authoring application and you can add video, pictures, audio. Use for example Nerovision if you have it already or try Tmpgenc Authoring works.

If these are just AVI files and MP3 audio then you can influence the order they appear in the list by changing the file names, but you won't get a menu form your player. If you author the disc as suggested by Baldrick then you can have them in any order you want, and make the menu look any way you like, but you will have to convert the audio to AC3 and encode the video to DVD compliant mpeg-2 and ac3 audio (OK, yes, you can also use MP2 or PCM audio, but AC3 is simple and universal). You may also find that you cannot fit all your movies onto a single DVD without losing a lot of quality.

The files are going to be Divx and if I have 5 movies on a DVD-R disc the quality of each movie will go down? Is that really true?

If the total running time is more than about two hours then yes, the quality will go down. If these are 5 feature length movies then the quality will drop substantially. Mpeg-2 uses a less efficient, but arguably much better quality compression algorithm. While this means you can fit much less on a disc, the quality is much better (Divx/Xvid uses certain tricks that work well for getting small file sizes, but produces artifacts even at higher bitrates).

if you have a Divx Ultra certified player - note : this is a special certification, and not just the Divx logo or mpeg-4 playback capabilities - then you can do some authoring using specialist tools. However on standard Divx/Xvid capable players all this will be ignored and you will be back with just a list of files, as you have now.
