Hi,
I have been given a DVD with some footage in it which comprises of 4 .vob files on 1 DVD,
The files are named 1 to 4 on the DVD
The person who gave me the DVD has asked me to chop the first 15 seconds off the first .vob file
My questions are is this easy to do ? and how do I do it, i.e. edit the file ? and then re save ?
Thanks in advance for your answers to topic I now nothing about..![]()
Kind Regards
Piatti

Thanks for the quick reply
The disc has 2 folders
AUDIO_TS
VIDEO_TS
The AUDIO_TS has nothing in it whist the VIDEO_TS has serveral .VOB files, 2 .IFO files and 2 .BUP files....
What are the next steps..... -
Then it's dvd-video and you can't just cut the vob as it wont work correctly after that.
You can instead use dvd shrink in the reauthoring mode to cut out the beginning but you will lose menus(if any). See http://www.dvdshrink.info/reauthor_basic.php
If you want to keep the menu I guess you can use vobblanker but it's a bit more tricky, see http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/article_vobblanker_page1.html -
It has'nt got any menus but the .vob files do play in order, there each in 10 min separate .vob files and play 1.vob, 2.vob, 3.vob and 4.vob
Will dvd shrink effect this ?
Kind regards

Wait at least a day or two before bumping your topic.
You should post a list of the files in the folder so that we know what you are dealing with here. Make sure to list the exact file names.
Did you try using DVDShrink as suggested? Do that before asking any more questions or bumping this thread again. -
I would use VOB2MPG to extract the video and audio from the VOB files into an mpg file, then edit the mpeg file with VideoRedo or Womble Mpeg Video Wizard. I would then output the results to a new mpg file (without re-encoding, of course), and author a new DVD using my favourite authoring tool.
Read my blog here.

though not freeware (but worth every penny that it is sold for) the app dvdremakepro will let you do exactly what. It opens already authored dvds with the intent to let you change or do practically whatever you like to an already authored disc. It then lets you export just the modified files to over write your originals on the hard drive. Once done it is all set to burn
this way if you need to keep the dvds full structure and everything else you can do so and not have to worry about totally re-authoring the whole entire dvd -

Click export button and you have a new Video_TS folder ready for burning.

It's simple using VobBlanker (free). Open the DVD in VobBlanker. Highlight the video in the upper window so it appears in the lower window. Highlight it in the lower window and hit the 'Cells' button to the right. In the new window highlight the first cell - the one containing that first 15 seconds you'll be cutting out. Hit the Prev/Cut button and cut out what you want. 'OK' and 'Apply' your way back to the main screen, give it an 'Output Folder' and 'Process'. Here's a guide, but the procedure is so easy that you don't need it:

You'll keep the menus and anything else that might be in the DVD.
