Just downloaded VLC 1.0 and everything seems OK except while using the slider to move FF/FB or fast seek, I would get messed up colors for split secs (like 0.000001 sec) and everything back to normal, is this typical of VLC?

    Thanks.

Hi Baldrick, I haven't been using VLC for the past two yrs 8) . My primary player is MPC HC and the backup/standby player is SMPlayer. I thought I would give VLC a try since it's the new 1.0 version and also somehow MPC HC is NOT as smooth in Windows 7 as compared to XP .

The above problem is ONLY applicable with .wmv files and only when I use the slider to quickly move/seek forward/backward (.avi files are 100% OK/no such problem).......other than that the VLC 1.0 seems to be much better than MPC HC in Windows 7.

    Regards.

p/s I could install VLC 0.9.9 to test it out

I use 3 or 4 players, including VLC and MPC-HC, but haven't seen that one before. I do know that some of the .WMV clips you download off the 'net turn out to be non-seekable, meaning that you can't FF or FR, because if you try to the video locks up. (Which is different from the color-streak anomaly you are getting.)

I never knew whether the non-seekable ones indicated a broken file, or if it was just an artifact of whatever they used to make it. (Different versions / flavors of WMV ?) And I'm not aware of anything you could use to fix such files . . . though maybe there is something.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.
