I've successfully installed ffmpegX and I'm able to convert rm (real) into mp3. However, to do so, I must always "force quit" mplayer before ffmpegX can correctly show the drop file as "REAL" and allow me to encode. mplayer "works" in the sense that if I hit "play", I can hear the audio.

I believe I'm using the latest version of mplayer (ffmpegXbinaries20060307.zip). Does anyone have an explanation for what is happening and how I might fix the problem? Thanks.

First, did you install reallib? (You didn't mention.)
Is this .rm supposed to have video and audio?
Do you want to convert a movie to an audio file (mp3)?

Yes, reallib is installed (the reallib folder contains the .bundle files).
No, the rm is just an audio file.
I'm just looking to convert an rm (audio) into an mp3.

To me, the issue is would be with mplayer since force quitting it after it freezes does result in a successful conversion to mp3.
