1:1 VGA: Is used when your source was encoded for your computer(streaming video and things of that nature)

4:3 525 line (NTSC): Is used when your source was encoded to be played on a TV.

So the DivX that can be found on the net, are they in 1:1 VGA or in 4:3? How do I know?

Because I encoded a VCD using a Source Aspect Ration of 4:3 and I'm not sure but I think the aspect ratio on the TV screen is a little off. It's hard to judge since the difference between 1:1 and 4:3 must not be that big, but I suspect that the image is a little stretched vertically.

So does it mean that I should put the "Source Aspect Ratio" to 1:1 VGA when I convert DivX DVD rips since the person who ripped them probably put an aspect ratio to watch it on a computer?

And once the .mpg file is encoded, should it look right on my computer or is it normal if it looks a little off and it's on my TV that the ratio will be right? :-?

Thank you for your help,

Regards,

Mikhail
