I don't know if this will ring a bell for you or any other MMJB users, but I recall running into a problem a couple times (with MMJB 9 or 10), where the program created a whole sub-directory structure that was just geared towards bugging you to update the program. It was a lot of redundant or very expendable junk ! Of course, the company was long defunct by then, so this additional "phone home" apparatus only managed to lead to program corruption. I recall zapping that whole portion of the directory tree, and MMJB would then return to decent functionality -- for awhile. In time, I would have to reinstall it though, which took some do-overs and scrubbing of the Registry, before I got it working again. I'm pretty sure one of these MMJB threads makes reference to killing certain files -- after a successful install -- which is supposed to keep this problem from cropping up again.

Why did you update the burn engine? You had to have had this problem before inserting the files from the fix folder since they have nothing to do with the burn engine. Did you restart the computer? Something tells me when you tried to use the key for 8.1 that it updated the program. I doubt these files will work for 8.1 since they are for 7.5.

What operating system are you running? I'm not sure MMJB will run on Vista. According to old apps, MMJB only runs on 32 bit XP, ME and 2000. I know it works on 98 also and my friend was using it on 64bit XP (probably in 32bit mode) but dropped it in favor of Media Monkey. You may have to get the pay version of Media Monkey to burn.

What I don't understand is how you can install MMJB on Vista to begin with since Vista ships with IE7 unless you can somehow get rid of IE7 and install IE6 in Vista first (I heard you can have multiple versions of IE but I don't have a clue how). Everyone says that they cannot install MMJB in XP unless they uninstall IE7.

  8. I used an old key i purchased so i do not think that is problem. I use the key to upgrade to Jukebox Plus which has burner capabilities. I wonder if problem is this: when you use the key to upgrade, i believe the upgrade came from Musicmatch Home Page somehow. Now, since there is no homepage i wonder if the Burner Plus software just isn't there or not getting activated. What do you think? If i am correct...how can i load or activate Burner Plus? Should i try putting the Burner Plus DLL from my later version into the 7.0 version or do you have the 7.0 DLL that i can try to load?

The key isn't used to upgrade but to unlock the plus options that are already installed but not unlocked. If you upgraded then you probably upgraded to a version that does not support the plus features since Yahoo offered the free version. Yahoo does not even support MMJB now. They switched to Rapsody.

Obviously, the 8.1 key is not for 7.5. What version does it say in the help files?

Since I do not have Vista, there is nothing I can do to help. Hopefully someone else here has MMJB working on Vista and can help but most people have switched to Media Monkey.

All I can suggest is to reinstall the program.

And use the correct key or install 8 and use the key you already have.

  10. I am making progress. Just can't get Burner Plus to open with ability to make jewel cases and burn.

  11. The main function i can't get to work that i want in a player is the ability to print jewel case covers with songlist and album art. Do you know any programs that can do this.
Wish i could get burner plus software to work!

Fix For: MusicMatch Jukebox in IE 7 & 8

Music Match Jukebox will not work/install in IE 7 or IE 8 - Reason is IE overwrites the dll files in the Musicmatch folder.

I have a fully functional MMJ 7.5 running with IE8

Here's how to get round the problem.

    Go to Add/remove Programmes

Select Add/Remove Windoze components on the left.

Uncheck the box for Internet Explorer - click the add/remove button.

Once it's gone - reboot computer.

Now click on the Install icon for MMJ - this install will not complete btw. I'm using MMJ 7.5.

The instal program will start to run - Enter your details as needed including an email address.

Uncheck the boxes for registration in the next window. The install will stop otherwise.

You should now see the files unpacking etc and trying to install

I left it for 15 mins as I was on the phone.

The install will not complete - so just close the window by clicking on the top right hand corner. You will probably get the message - Programme Not Responding etc.. Just close it all and Reboot Computer.

Now unzip the fix files in the folder below. Copy the fix files to:

    C: Programme Files/MusicMatch/Musicmatch Jukebox

Drop the files over the existing dll's in the folder

    Reboot PC

    Musicmatch Jukebox should now start.

You may only have one Skin available called Pheonix. If you have a copy of the vortex theme folder you can drop that into Skins. The Vortex folder needs to contain it's own file called mmtheme.ini to install.

    You could try
Takking the mmtheme.ini from the phoenix folder and placing it in the Vortex folder. Then rename the Vortex folder to Phoenix. I haven't tried that.

Once I had it running - I copied the Musicmatch folder in Programme files from an old drive backup - and dropped it over the top of the new install - then replaced the the dll's again - Rebooted PC - and it is now fully working with all Skins etc.

Once you have it running go back to:

Add/remove Programmes - Windows Coponents - check the box along side widoze Explorer and reinstall it. Reboot computer - job done.

Adaptec Easy cd Creator. That is good for jewel cases. Custom install allows you to install that function separately. Dunno about vista tho..

  17. Waking up a dead topic! Check this out: I just bought new computer with Windows 7/IE8. Loaded Musicmatch program 8.2 and it loaded....despite warnings....i just clicked by them. Opened program and all aspects worked....including Burner Plus and Jewel Case printing.....the wierd thing is this: it will work fine first time i start up computer and open MM. After I use MM....if i try to use it again, the Burner Plus function will not work. If i power down computer and open MM....it will all work fine again for single time.....then i need to power down and re-start. It is mainly the Burner Plus feature not working.
Any theories and or ideas to fix?

I'm not sure about this -- it's been awhile, and I only used versions 9 / 10 -- but I recall the program regularly adding (on its own !) extra sub-directories (folders, in Win-parlance) related to updates . . . or bugging you to do future updates. It was definitely extraneous stuff, not necessary for running the program. I think things got better -- for awhile, anyway -- when I deleted all that stuff. But it kept coming back. Must have been part of the way they designed it. There may not have been any good way to block this from happening.

  19. So you found a folder called Win-parlance? In MM folder? Deleted contents?
I think it's something the Windows 7 program is doing to "correct" compatibility issues and just screws it up!

You were not reading me right. I've never used Win-7, just W2K and in some cases XP. What those of us who learned these things longer ago knew as directories and sub-directories, Windows later called "folders", possibly as a reaction to the Mac. You see what I'm talking about in something called "Tree View", where the structure of the disk is displayed like branches of a tree. That atrocious piece of crap known as Windows Explorer makes this much harder to see or deal with, compared to a real file manager. When I saw that extra structure turn up under the MM section of the tree, I just "sawed it off." This stopped MM from bugging me to update -- for awhile -- solved some problems in running the program, but may have led to others.
