Rendering a DVD with Vegas 6.0

I have 5 min of a DVD, I'd like to copy to Vegas 6 with a pass-through CamCormer (Sony HC). I have no trouble using this DV8 camera to copy tapes to Vegas. When I look at the render window (It's blue and says, "Please Insert a Tape". If I click on one of the other tabs (Advanced Capture, Capture, Print to Tape), I momentarily see the DVD. How do I get render to sense there's a DVD ready to go? None of the other render controls seem active, greyed out. Pressing Play on the DVD doesn't help.

You need to turn off device control in the Vegas Capture Preferences.

Or just use WinDV with the device control button (next to capture) unchecked.
