  1. Hi guys, when I used to use DVD Fab 6, I would set the "target" as some folder on my hard drive. I have two dvd drives- a D drive and a E drive. I always put the dvd/movie I wish to burn, in the D drive. I will put my DVD-R into the E drive to burn it.

Typically, I set my "target" as C:/Movie folder. When it is done extracting and removing all protection codes, I will then use DVD Shrink to "open file" from that C:/Movie folder and finally burn it.

What happens if I set the source as my D Drive, put my DVD-R into E Drive and set "target" as the E Drive (instead of C:/Movies)? Does it skip a step and directly burns it onto the DVD-R in the E Drive, so I dont have to use the extra step of DVD Shrink?

    The short answer is "no".

Provided the source disc is copy protected, you must first remove that protection.
Perhaps there is an application which allows for "on-the-fly" decryption and burning, but I'm not aware of one.

    -Anyway-

    What about DVD Shrink ?
Do you use that application to actually shrink the file(s), or just as a burning app ?
If you need to both remove the copy protection and shrink the files to fit on a DVD 5, you will need the full version of Fab 6.
If you primarily backup older DVDs (those pressed more than three years ago), you might be able to rip and burn using only DVD Shrink.

The term "set target as..." only refers to the location that will actually be the desired location for the decoded video files.

The "target" can be a burner ("C", "D", etc.) or a folder in your hard drive.
If the target is a burner, the logical assumption is that the files will be subsequently burned to a disc.
If the target is a hard drive file, either in documents and settings or in the program files, the video file remains available to watch from the hard drive via a player such as VLC and/or to burn to disc at a later date.

This really doesn't have anything to do with DVDFab 6.0.2.2
It's basically about setting your target. All DVD copy/rip programs have the "target" location.
