Out of curiosity do people usually download the tools listed here from the direct link or the authors website?

    why for either?

With a few exceptions, the author's site. I don't like to abuse our host's generosity.
    Read my blog here.

same here. If you download from the direct link then you are using up baldricks bandwidth. Download from the authors site unless it's down.

    Author's site first.
If author site is pain in the ass (most common problem) or down, mirror on VH.

I always want to check out the author's site anyway.

Sometimes they have a choice of versions, or extras not linked directly from here. (Help, manuals, FAQs, etc.)
But conversely, sometimes a once free program has now gone payware and they don't offer the free version any more, but VH still has that archived.

I always try the authors website first. If all else fails, I use the direct link provided by videohelp.

Also, most tools wont have the beta version on the authors website.
So it's a good thing we have the direct link for beta versions here.
