  1. l have a NV-DS65 mini camcorder and l'm on windows vista, l have put the disc in for the driver software and downloaded onto the computer but when l put the lead from the camcorder to the usb on the computer it does not recognize any software. l had no problem with the software when l had windows xp so l could do with some help and advice. l have noticed on the software disc it says for windows 98 , xp and 2000 but nothing about vista so if it's the computer not be compatible how do l get around this so l can get my pictures off the camcorder and onto the computer..

I would use FireWire (1394A/I-Link) instead of USB as you will get a much higher quality video most times. You would need a FireWire cable and card, though. But you don't need any software then, just a transfer program like WinDV.

For USB, 3.00p seems to be the latest driver, but I would check with Panasonic as they may have a newer one. As long as you aren't running Vista 64, a driver shouldn't be a big problem. I would install the driver as a Administrator and if that fails, try XP compatibility mode.

If your camcorder is like mine then firewire is for video, and usb is for pictures, if there is no vista usb driver available for your camcorder you will need to save your pics to your memory card, and then transfer them to your PC w/ a usb flash memory card reader

l have not got a firewire connection on my computer so it has to be a usb cable. The mini camcorder is a panasonic and as l've mentioned l want to get pictures off the camcorder onto the computer but l have a feeling the software disc is for windows xp and will not work with vista. Does anyone know if there is a software for my camcorder that will work with vista.
The memory cards are sd , how much are these flash memory card readers to buy.

You have to check the camera's website for official software if its updated for vista.

Also you'd be better off investing in a firewire card than a flash memory reader. All you need is an available pci slot and you can add one to your computer.

  6. yoda he said he wants to get pictures off the cam, not video. usb connection or a card reader is needed.

card readers are cheap and you can get one that plugs into a usb port.
