  1. I created a vcd from a bin/cue file that I downloaded from the net. The quality is good when I play the mpeg on my computer. It's about dvd quality. But when I burn it to vcd and play it on my TV it looks pretty distorted in some places. Is there anyway to have the same quality? Or is this just because the TV screen is bigger then the comp.

  2. How good it looks on your TV will also depend on your particular hardware player and TV. Some better players can do some filtering of the video so that it looks better. However, if you have a gargantuan TV, the quality will suffer.

You've done nothing wrong in buring your CUE/BIN image and there is in reality nothing more you can do to improve the quality (except perhaps making your own VCDs from DVD rips or making XVCDs or SVCDs).

  3. Is the VCD in the same format as your TV (NTSC or PAL)? Does your DVD player have a problem with CD-R or CD-RW? It could be a simple compatibility issue.

  4. A VCD file looks great when played on a computer at the size of a postage stamp! Blow it up to fill a 32" TV, it no longer looks so good. Why? Because you can now actually see all the blocks and artifacts that are so tiny on a small PC monitor you cannot see them. Blow a VCD up to 60" and it looks pretty bad...
