I think when i go to japan, i might like a palm piolet.

Something to listen to MP3's, possibly watch videos (i heard they were close to building a DIVX player) and to send e-mail and instant message and deffinatly need a picture viewer.

I'd like to spend the minimun amount.

i'm not lugging a $1,700 Dell Inspiron 8100 arond tokyo.

  2. I have been ripping movies and doing MPEG2 encoding in better than real time on my Palm III. The display is not as good as a Panasonic DVD player but it runs TMPGENC at 5x that of a PC and only weighs a few ounces and costs 1/10 of the price.

Of course I'm full of SH*T but maybe the Palm XXXIII will do it

  3. If your only intent is to watch movies on a palm, don't do it. Yes the palm can show movie clips and such but is much to limited......

If you are really looking to buy a palm os device that can play mp3s and such you might have better luck with a sony clie. But whatever your purpose. Palm os 5 will be out this summer and it will be based on a more powerful processor. So if you can wait you might want to.
