I have a .mpg video file (mpeg-1 muxed) and .srt subtitle file. Both are named the same (except for the extension).

In QT Player no subtitles show when viewing the video. Under View>Subtitles, "Off" is grayed out.

Perian web site says it supports mpeg-1 and srt, but it's not working.

How do I get these subtitles to show?

    PowerBook G3 / 10.4.11 / Perian 1.1.3

    Thanks.

Perian subtitling doesn't work on mpeg files.

Haven't tried it but I wonder if VLC might support this?

VLC 0.9.9a (the current version for PPC processors) crashes when avi video is played.

    Thanks.

    davecc,
is it an .avi or .mpg file you are wanting help with?

Have you tried demuxing the mpeg-1 through MpegStreamclip,
and then try rebuilding a suitable file in Quicktime Pro?

MpegStreamclip should demux the file fine,
and then you can basically rebuild the file
in Quicktime Pro, embedding the subtitles,
( or at least a link to the subs in the same folder
as the demuxed files) and then you'll have a playable file.....
