    Hi,

I got myself Philips 32PFL5404H which has MPG-4 support via USB. Has been in contact with Phillips and got the following info on file support for this TV:

No I am wondering what is the easiest way to convert MKV file to 720p HD MP4 at best possible ratio (size/quality)

    Thanks for help in advance.

    Best regards
    Staljin

Step one is to mediainfo your mkv file and see what the content is. You may find that the video and audio already meet these requirements, and all you need to do is repackage the content.

I would use Xvid4PSP to either repackage or re-encode as necessary, although there are several other tools that would do similar jobs.

  3. The MPEG4 specs look similar to the Xbox 360's.

Assuming that your MKV file has H.264 video, then XenonMKV will repackage the MKV file to an MP4 file, which may play OK.

The video wont need to be converted, but the sound will be converted to 2 channel AAC-LC.
