  1. Hi,
I've a problem during AVI to DVD convertion : my AVI file is 544*224 (ratio 2.43) and I'd like to burn it on a DVD for my standard TV (screen 720*576, std ratio 1.25) but with the same original 2.43 ratio to keep the right original individual's and setting's appearences.
I changed the DVD format before encoding with ffmpegX (AVI to DVD : 702*296 instead of 720*576 to keep the same ratio 2.43 as avi source),
and I was expecting to get a mpeg file with an image with black strips at the top and the bottom of my TV screen,
but I always get a mpeg file with an image in 544*224 (same as source), and the image is a lot too high on my TV screen (terrible individual's appearence).
Could you help me to find the right configuration to keep the same ratio 2.43 for my target TV 720*296 ?
    Thank you
    B.

    video34bgi,

Your only option for DVD is 720x576 with hardcoded black bars to fill in the space around the 296. The DVD has to be 4:3 or 16:9, hence the black bars.
    Have a good one,

  3. If encoding for 16:9, resize to 720x480 and then add 48 rows of pixels above and below.

If encoding for 4:3, resize to 720x360 and add 108 rows of pixels above and below.

This is with ITU resizing. You're going about it all wrong because your AVI is 1:1 but DVDs are either 4:3 or 16:9. And I know nothing about ffmpegx and how it handles resizing and the adding of black borders.
