  1. I have a tv series of several half hour shows that are in avi form. I can convert them to dvd one at a time with no problems but how do I put more than one show on a single dvd? Or is it even possible?

no need to convert. the re-encode to dvd format will cause some quality loss AND take up much more space!. just burn as data.

burn as data works fine if your dvd player supports playing avi. But if it doesn't then you'll have to convert to dvd.

Avstodvd, favc, dvdflick, convertxtodvd all support adding multiple files to a finished dvd.

Or you can go the manual route and encode video (with hcenc) and audio (with aften) then author with software like guifordvdauthor.

Plenty of guides here to help you with what you want.
