  1. I captured my movie using Virtual Dub, and it created 12 segments. I then ran each segment through some filters (poor input quality - old Beta tape), then ran each segment through TMPGEnc for encoding, and finally used TMPGEnc to merge all the mpg segments to one single file. The problem is there is an audio pop between each segment in the final file. I don't really see a video problem, but I can definately hear an audio pop. I can probably avoid the problem by using the Frame Server to feed TMPGEnc, but why does the audio pop occur? Not using the Frame Server means a power loss only causes segement re-encode, rather than the whole movie. Did I do something else wrong?

    Thanks

  2. As an audio producer, I work with digital audio all day. This sounds like the edit is happening where the audio does not zero-cross. If you've ever used a waveform editor, when you look a waveform, there is a line in the middle called the 0db line. The best possible place to cut audio is where the waveform crosses this line. If not, you have the possibility where one waveform ends well below the 0db and the next starts above the 0db line, then instead of having a smooth waveform, you have a big jag which causes an audible pop.

    Hope this helps!
