    Hi all, i'm a newbie.
Recently i downloaded avi movie and i want to convert to mpeg(vcd).
Some are in ffdshow codec and in xvid.
I try to convert avi to mpeg with subtitle using mainconcept & boilsoft, and it works when it is in ffdshow.
But i cannot make it when it is xvid.
Is there any way to convert avi in xvid codec to mpeg with subtitle?
    Please advise. Thanks.

ffdshow handles multiple codecs, including XVid. You can always try opening the "VFW configuration" and "Video decoder configuration" options in ffdshow's Start menu folder, click on 'Codecs' in the left-hand pane, then enable Xvid in the right pane (set the dropdown to 'libavcodec'), and see if that helps.

I just downloaded and installed K-Lite Codec Pack 4.90 and uninstalled previous 3.45.
I followed your step, and I tried to open the avi movie. Now the movie is running in ffdshow codec, previous was in xvid.
Did the converting and the result is mpeg with subtitle, as I want. This is great . Thank you very much for solve this. Greets to Ai Haibara
