why Avi Clips made by Edius can not be imported to premiere

Hello,

The satellite channel I am working for is using Edius. I take some AVI clips (has been edited by edius)
From the satellite channel to my house where I use premiere CS4 on my MAC .
The trouble is that when I import these AVI's clips to premiere CS4 I get error (Can not be imported)
AVI Clips made by Edius can not be even imported to Final cut
Do I need to convert this Avi To another type of Avi?
Is there any deffirence between AVI Format in Edius and AVI in Premiere or final cut?
Why Avi made by edius can not be played even by mac preview

Because I use Edius at work and premiere CS4 on my Mac at home, Can anyone suggest the suitable Video Converter for me?
