When I play mkv files I receive no sound in wmp or media player classic but yet in vlc probably because it uses it own codecs.
I have halli media splitter install and ffdshow but no luck. I am sure that it is probably something in ffdshow. Any suggestions?

Obviously some codec is missing or it is not activated on ffdshow.

Re-install latest ffdshow and do a reset. It might work. If not, you have to find which codec your mkv has and set it manually for playback to ffdshow.

Check your file with mediainfo to find out the audio codec then you can tell if it is installed activated. Most mkv files I've seen have aac audio. Could be you need to enable aac and you might also need to install an aac parser/splitter
