  1. I have a customer out in the middle of nowhere that can only get broadband Cell service. He is using a Verizon card from his wife's laptop on his desktop via a USB adapter. It's working fine but he'd like to route the signal wirelessly to both PCs, which both have a wireless adapter built in. The only one I've found so far is a Netgear model that has some reported issues with Verizon cards. I'm not sure of the exact model of his cell card. It's probably at least a year old. I'll get the details as soon as I can. Anyone know of a decent router that can handle this situation?

Skip the router and use internet connection sharing

How about creating a local area network with the router of your choice and setting up the desktop to share it's internet connection with the laptop via the network. Just continue using the usb adapter thing in the desktop and have it share it's internet connection via the network.

Only downside to this is that the desktop has to be on the same time as the laptop for the laptop to have internet connection.

I guess that could really not be a problem either. If the main PC is turned off then they could just unplug the phone modem from the pc and put it into the laptop.

  4. He almost never leaves the desktop on. And since he and his wife basically hate each other they'd rather get away from swapping anything around. Routing the signal would be optimal. I just was were Verizon now has a modem/cellular router he could upgrade to. I worry about the quality of the signal though.
