I am trying to combine VOB's from 2 DVD's into 1 DVD. All VOBS play find with Power DVD and WMP. Both discs were shot by a friend. I noticed that the 1GB VOBs on disc 1 were about 14 minutes and disc 2 were about 22 minutes.

The first attempt I authored using Power Producer 2 Gold which was to large to fit on a DVD so I used DVD shrink to make it fit on 1 DVD. When I played it only about 20 minutes had audio. I opened up PPG and loaded the original VOBs back and checked the properties of each VOB. PPG only recognized audio from 1 original source VOB.

2nd attempt I used DVD flick and after hours of rendering I ended up with errors on some of the authored VOB's.

I then tried DVD Styler and Simple DVD and got the same results as the 2nd attempt.

With the 2nd attempt on I had audio from the first VOB of the first disc and all of the second disc, but the audio was "unrecognizable" on Disc 1 VOB2 and VOB3.

I tried to extract the audio from the 2 unrecognized VOB's using Tmpgenc and Vstrip but to no avail.

Here is what seemed to work where from the source VOB's:

PowerDVD & WMP everything plays correctly
PPG2 Disc 1 VOB 2 is the only file that displays audio properties
others Disc 1 VOB 2 & 3 are the only files that don't render audio

I'm at a loss, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    DC

I have now tried to convert the VOB's to AVI in VirtualDub, but I get choppy audio on all the files!!!

  2. i'd use vob2mpg and convert the dvds into single mpgs first. then import the mpegs into an authoring program and create 2 separate titles, as the specs might not be the same and it could confuse a dvd player if they were in one title. you can set the titles to play one after the other.
