Ripped my first season of The West Wing to 360mb MKV files encoded with x264 and AC3 audio. Now I want to convert each of those files to a format playable on PS3 so that I can just watch them in order without having to change disks. Of course since they are already encoded I don't want to reencode so my first inclination was MKVtoVOB. However the output .mpg file has serious audio sync problems. The problems persist no matter how I change the settings or what output format I use. I also tried TSMuxer and GotSent with several variations on output settings.

Let me be clear that the original MKV files are synced perfectly (MEDIA INFO ATTACHED).

Interestingly I did a 1.5hr DVD that had the same settings (x264 encoded video and AC3 audio) and MKVtoVOB did a perfect job and the file played back with flawless video and audio syncronization both on my PC and the PS3. Hmmmm..

This has to have been covered somewhere. My personal searches yeilded this:
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mkv_content_on_playstation_3_ps3.cfm
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/fixing-audio-sync-issues-when-using-gotsent-to-...4-t367031.html
and of course the sticky where Baldrick recommends giving up on audio sync issues with MKV conversion.

None of which helped me very much.

EDIT: For those who will say "Why not just re-rip to xvid .avi files?" I acknowledge you and may end up doing that. But I have so much already ripped to .mkv including seasons of Friends and other crap. So finding a universal fix would actually be easier. Plus it's a 2 step process now that my preferred front-end doesn't decrypt DVD's (handbrake).

And yes in time I'm going to have a NMT.
