I get exactly the same problems..

I've tried several different settings, but I cannot get it right in any way.
    VCD's works flawlessly....

I'm going for LSX mpeg encoder now.... We'll see if things work out better.[/quote]

How did you convert the NTSC DivX to PAL VCD? How did you change the framerate? What is the bitrate? Is your player CD-R compatible?

the vcd is not direktly the problem... the converted avi to mpg file is having the problem. The vcd is the same as the
    mpg file.
no problems with the same setting wen i do a dvd rip.

The settings i use are those i load in as a pal template from tmpgenc itself!

I get this stuttering problems when I convert DivX that have a frame rate that is below that of PAL VCD/SVCD.

For example, many DivX has 23.976fps.... Perhaps the problem has something to do with the increase in framerate (to 25fps)?

I've never changed the framerate prior to using TMPGEnc to make the SVCD... Should this be done first in another application? Or have I missed a setting somewhere in TMPGEnc?

Like Dagger38 I just load the template and only change the bitrate... and motion search precision to High Quality.

And a correction to my previous post... The problems DO occur on VCD's as well.... Noticed that today...
