The question is in the subject title; I'm looking for some guys to throw some suggestions my way. Something to put in the chain to filter any tape format.
Signvideo no longer manufacture anything that is PAL compatible - that's coming from the horse's mouth - so that's not an option. It occurred to me that some DVD recorders might be able to do a respectable job, but they need to filter on passthrough (as opposed to just on DVD playback which would be no good) and be of high quality in the filtering - good Noise Reduction that won't 'ghost' or smudge motion, and an adjustable detail function that won't leave halos. Anything else like black levels adjust - even if it's a reasonably good auto-correction function - is a bonus. Is such passthrough filtering on any recorder even that common? I don't know.
Unless of course, someone can suggest a dedicated high-end NR & enhancer unit, as-new, that is PAL compatible and available to the UK - provided it isn't beyond £1000...In which case, point me in that direction.
But anyways, please post your suggestions for either UK PAL DVD Recorders or hardware that is readily available for good enhancement & filtering. Thanks in advance!
