capturing video to PC hard drive

Hello there

I am new to this group. I recently bought the Sony HDRSR12 and love it ! But, I am having trouble saving or transferring the footage to the hard drive of my computer and then saving it to a DVD.

any tips ?

You would have to give us a lot more info. What trouble are you having saving or transferring?

That camera appears to output:

Format(s) Supported : HD: MPEG4 AVC/H.264 SD: MPEG2

And it seems to transfer the video via USB 2.0 to the computer. I assume Sony includes some sort of software for that transfer.

Saving it (Or actually likely re-encoding it) to MPEG-2 DVD compliant video and then authoring it to the DVD format is a whole different process. Can you tell us the steps and programs you used for both?
