  1. I'm new to all this video capturing, etc. I want to get a program to burn VCDs. Just captured my first video from our camcorder. Any ways, I've been looking on this site for opinions on what to buy. I was ready to get the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum, but now I just don't know. I keep reading about Nero, as well as a few others.

Any and all suggestions/experiences would be very helpful and appreciated.

    Thanks!!!

  2. My 2 cents:

I really rate Nero, I think it's reputation is deserved.

I have Easy CD, don't like it much. Nero gave me less coasters when I didn't have a Burnproof(tm) writer. I also have WinOnCD, don't like it much. These both get the job done, but I think Nero does it better.

:D Well Each to his/her own, I have tested both packages and ended with Nero.
Roxio can have a problem woth the final VCD not being able to run in some DVD players due to UDF format. While in Roxio you can set a menu with a mpeg file as the initial menu option screen, Nero only allows a text menu with a picture background.

Either program is only useful with menu if you have multiple clips and wish to be able to select which one you watch, If you are just doing a full VCD of one movie, my choice for easy of use has got to be NERO! :P

  5. Nero is my choice. My DVD player only reads CDRW. When I burn with Roxio my dvd players freezes randomly. With Nero it has never done that.

For simple quick easy and VCD's that work use Nero.

For audio cd audio extraction, and the cover / booklet creator use EZ CD Creator.

As far as burning apps, Nero is far more superior to EZ CD, as far as peripherals I think EZ CD's are better. So depending on your function you can toggle between the 2 of them

  7. hi,

i have roxio 5/ nero latest/ NTI cd maker. i would say for any video thing like vcd/svcd i would settle with nero. it never gave any problem so far but easy cd give problems like buffer under run and so. I use nti for data cds due to is simple interface. but nero will serve for all purpose in my opinion

  8. Now that the Nero Fan Club have had there say, I would strongly recommend WinOnCd 5, why I hear you say? Well just read back thru the forum with regards to Nero so many complaints, it wont do this it wont do that, just look at Sefy's Newbie DVD Guide it dose'nt include Nero anymore I wonder why? So all you Nero geeks send it back where it belongs (to Roman times) and go get yourselves a professional programme *WinOnCd 5*

  9. Other options - see www.ulead.com for some authoring packages. Also see the tools section of this site & check VCDeasy - it incorporates the CDRDAO freeware app. The TSCV program also does this but is a bit more complicated for some.

nero? that has been kicked out from my computer for ~6 months!
If you want to burn simple SVCD or VCD without menu, as well as reliable data CDs, NTICDmaker2000 is the best choice.

  11. If you are going to compare Nero to Easy CD Creator, Nero is probably the better pick.

However, it should be noted that there are many VCD authoring proggies MUCH better than Nero.

  12. Thanks for all the response.

I just downloaded the demo of Nero, so I'll give that a try first. I figure I don't loose anything this way. It's worth a shot.

Thanks again for all the input!!!
