I have encoded around 5 .avi files to mpg using TMPGenc. So far most of them are pretty good quality but some of the darker scenes have slight pixelation problems. I was just wondering what are the best settings to use when trying to convert an .avi/divx file to a video cd(ntsc). What I have been doing is loading the video(ntsc) template and then under settings changing the picture to interlaced, 4.3 NTSC. What are the best settings.

Well, if you are trying to make a standard vcd like one used to play in a standalone dvd player, you will have to use the standard VCD ntsc standard. You will want to limit the amount of transcoding you do to the file. Capture it in bets quality then transfer directly to VCD, the more times you encode it the worse off quality will be. But VCD itself is subject to these types of problems. You will occassionally see pixilization or blurring. To really boost the quality significantly you would create SVCD or XVCD,if your player supportsthem of course. A XVCD would have a higher bitrate and thus more data in each scene, unfortunately the downside of XVCD is most Standalones have some problems with them(check for yours) and the more data you use the more space it takes up.
