If I'm using 80minute 700Meg Cd's how much video can I put on these disc's if im making SVCD's. I've heard that if you burn with NERO that it doesnt matter on the file size its just the length of the clip, meaning a 900meg file size would fit on a 700meg CD as long as its not longer than 80minutes. Does this make sense to anyone...please clarify this for me cause once I start producing nice quality .MPEG clips from my digital camera I would like to start burning them to CD's I just hope I can get a lenghty movie on a CD-R without having to worry about file size.
Thanks

Using a birate for video at 2.400kb/s and 224kb/s for audio you can fit about 43mins on a 80min CD-R.
If you use the max bitrate for SVCD's of 2.600kb/s and 224kb/s for audio around 40mins.

I don't know where you heard this about Nero - but it's not true.

Hi,
The Time/Filesize story is ONLY true for 100% compliant VCD's !!! Not for XVCD, SVCD or XSVCD. Because of the way a disc is written for (X)VCD and (X)SVCD, you can fit about 800Mb on a 80 min. Disc.
