help with DVD shrink

Was using DVDshrink all the way with no problems.. but just formated my laptop and IE now is 8.0 cant copy at all. This is the eror message .. can help me ? thanks

Apparently, DVD Shrink doesn't coexist all that well with IE8 at the moment, from reports we've heard here and elsewhere. The only option appears to be to remove IE8 and go back to IE7, or earlier.

(You might also want to remove the line that begins with '1A20-' from the beginning of your error log - I believe it's a product key/serial, and shouldn't be displayed on a public forum.)

shrink and ie8 are fine together. it may be a nero problem. have shrink write an iso or dvd folders and use imgburn to burn the dvdr.

Maybe that (old) version of Nero doesn't like IE8. Switch your version of Shrink to the Imgburn version and use Imgburn. It is smaller and smarter than Nero and does a better job at burning DVD Video.

Me having DVD RW . It has the same space as the source disc. Coz the source disc is created by me using tmpgenc author.

Actuall normally I only use nero to copy files into DVD disc and store as backup and the second use is for DVD shrink and then will auto use nero to burn into the DVD-R or DVD rw

Must I uninstall nero before all the above ? I use nero to copy files to dvd disc as storage only and the other use is with DVD shrink

I would uninstall Shrink, but Imgburn is fine.

Personally I would uninstall Nero just to get back all the disk space it uses. You can use Imgburn to copy pretty much anything. I use it for everything but audio, which I use Prassi ONES for.

Are you sure the DVD-RW disc you're using is blank/empty? There's something Nero doesn't like about the destination disc, as the errors indicate, and Nero's refusing to write to the disc as a result. I should probably also note that RW discs do degrade over time and with multiple uses.

Also, are you sure you've told Nero to write to a data disc, and not a Video (VCD, SVCD, DVD-Video, etc.) disc?

I'd prefer to figure out what Nero doesn't like about the destination disc(s) you're using, because Imgburn might also have a problem with them. Maybe.

RWs are not the most reliable discs to work with. I have a handful that I use regularly to move video from my DVD recorder to the PC and for testing purposes. Every so often, for no good reason, one will refuse to be recognised in the PC, or by the DVD recorder. In those cases I find that I have to erase the disc in the other device to get it working again.

And they don't last forever. The cheap ones tend to die pretty quickly, the better ones might lst quite a while, but they have a finite number of burns in them.

I have download the DVDshrink with imgburn file (that is one file with DVD shrink n imgburn together rt ? ) from the DVD shrink link.. works better but I think u guys were rt abt the DVD RW too .. I use another batch ones no issues.. probably the usage is up as I hv using them for 2 yrs already.

So shall I change to IE 8 now or leave it alone as IE 6 ??

IE8 and dvdshrink have nothing to do with each other. They are unrelated and coexist nicely. I have IE8 and dvdshrink on my computer with no problems. IE6 is a security nightmare that should have been dead and buried long ago.

Ai Haibara's previous post suggests that some people are indeed having problems with IE8 and DVD Shrink, so rather than just essentially saying "It works for me, therefore no one else could possibly be having problems", I'd feel a lot better concluding only that it works OK for you.

Implying that IE8 is "better" from a security perspective to me seems a little like saying it's oh so much better to be shot in the head and die instantly than to have your throat slit and bleed to death. From my perspective you're dead either way. It's kind of hard to aruge that one is "better". Similarly if it doesn't already, it will just be a short matter of time before truly horrific security flaws get found in IE8 that take forever to get fixed, if they even get fixed at all. People who care anything about security DON'T EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use IE.

Agreed, but if IE 8 and shrink work on Vista, without issues on multiple computers, then something else is wrong.

The problem that Ai Haibara is referring to reared it's head with the beta of IE8, but the full gold IE8 fixed the problem, so I reiterate that IE8 and shrink have nothing to do with each other and coexist nicely.
