hi there new to the forum my problem is just downloaded a film in avi used tmpge to covert it to mpeg but it stopped half way throw saying decimal point in inncorrect how can i get around it .

There is likely an error in a few frames of the avi. You can try cutting the bad frames out using VirtualDub, and then try TMPGEnc again.

I did this with Shogun Assassin awhile ago and it worked fine. Made a slight chop in one of the fight scenes, but people who hadn't seen the movie before thought it was just a camera trick to make Itto seem to move really fast. =)

When you play the movie through VirtualDub it will freeze at the error point. Go back one key frame before that point and save that half. Then go one key frame beyond and save that half. Then join those two saved parts together again.
