    can i set region code through a usb external writer? all i find on searching online is to put drive in computer and play comm dvd through a player like powerdvd.

    set region code? make the dvd writer region free?

    You can just use dvd43 or anydvd and you don't have to worry about region codes.

    I hope i can explain better, i have a standalone dvd recorder ilo r04 that i replaced the drive on. i would like to play a store brougt dvd on recorder, but it won,t play because the region was never set, as aposhed to an internal dvd writer? i would like to know if i put the drive in a external case, would it play through usb port, and be reconized by a player on the computer,
    to be set to play a region 1 dvd?
