    Hey i have a problem

Everytime i want to make an avi a wmv the program crashes just when its about to begin converting.

I have downloaded K lite codek pack , dont know if that matters.

I want to convert it to wmv so i can stream it to my xbox 360

The avi i want to convert i can just watch fine everytime on my pc

I tried a lot of things but why does it keeps crashing everytime in the same moment

I get that windows error thing

    AppName: winavi.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: xvid.ax
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0003dd11

  2. Remove the codec pack. They are often more trouble than they are worth. Any codecs you need, I advise getting them separately.

    Hmmm...

1 - If you have the K-lite code pack, it does matter. It is crap. Period. Trash it if you can.

2 - AVI is just a container for the video and audio. You should know what you're starting with by using G-spot or mediainfo to see what's in the container.

3 - Error thing? Are you serious? You'll need to be more specific than that...

4 - The media update for the 360 covered quite a few video and audio codecs and containers. Again, using gspot or mediainfo will help you determine what is in the avi that the 360 doesn't like.

5 - Have you tried to stream it to the 360? Are you using Media Center or streaming via Windows Media Player 10/11 and simply trying to play the video file? I find streaming/playing from WMP video/audio sharing to be much easier to deal with.

6 - I'm guessing by the last two lines in your message that it maybe 'the windows error thingy'. If so, and you still want to convert, you may want to make sure you have the latest xvid codec.

PS: The 360 should be able to play most xvid/divx .avi files just fine.
    Have a good one,

    Man step 6 helped me

i downloaded the file from the link you gave. and now its converting with winavi

    You are very smart, haha

And perhaps you can help me with the xbox 360 thing

When i wanted to stream from my laptop i saw every video on the xbox, i couldnt play them all but i could see them, and now with my desktop, if i go to my xbox, my video;s it just says no video's, same for audio files ,there are just 2 files there , the standard beathoven symphony thing and another standard mp3.. but with my laptop i saw them all.

Do i need to put them somewhere else so the xbox 360 notices them?

You're welcome. Still don't think you need to convert, but, if it works... it works...

See #5. As long as you have the folder where the video/audio are defined in the library and have sharing enabled, they should show up. Oh, I almost forgot, you may need to allow your xbox in the file sharing. You can either set it up specifically or make sure the 'add new devices automically' (or something close to that) is checked.
