Salutation,
Here a question to all who experienced the process of burning the .vobs ripped on a computer to a DVD-r media. I'm actually making vcd for a few time and all worked well so far thank to this site. Before I make a vcd, I always burn the .vobs file of my best DVD with the movie setting on smartripper (this mean i dont make a complete backup of the DVD since I don't mind not having the bonus material) to cd-r by splitting them to obtain 700 mb files with winrar. Later, when DVD-r burner become more affordable, I plan to unzip all of them and burn the movie in their original quality. What I want to know is if the secondary language and the subtitle in the .vobs file can be access on a standart DVD player (that read DVD-r of course) simply by pressing the audio/subtitle on the remote control once I burned them on the DVD-r without having to access it by the original menu, because I only kept the movie. I noticed that I can't switch the language or add subtitles when I play them on my hard drive with both WinDVD and PowerDVD, but i'm sure that the .vobs files contain both of them.
Also, how this .vobs file shall be burned...? If i burn them simply by creating a AUDIO_TS/VIDEO_TS and adding the movie in the VIDEO_TS folder, will my DVD player be able to read them properly..? Or will I have to create an image of those .vobs file with a programs like vcd imager..?
I also wanted to know if the DVD-r where you can fit around 4.3 gb is the only available in the market. I noticed that the golden DVD can store twice the amout of information than the other. Is this kind of DVD available at the moment in DVD-r format..?

Any info related to one of those question will be appreciated
