  1. Hello, i have a avi video captured from my dv camera.
It's 720x576, i want to crop the video a little on the right side, lets say crop to 500x576, then i want to export with 225x259 in flv format so i can put on my site.
I can't do it with good quality. I dont even understand what for is the crop effect on premiere if it just add black bars and then need to use the crop on the export things again.

    Can anyone help me please?

You can't use crop and use uneven numbers for most video formats. Most will internally pad and add pixels back until it's divisible by 2, 4 or 16 (depending on the codec/format used)

Regarding quality, you haven't listed the settings used (e.g. video codec, bitrate etc....). If your DV-AVI is interlaced, I wouldn't use Premiere for this task (at least for the deinterlacing part), because it drops 1/2 the fields when deinterlacing and interpolates from 1/2 the fields only (essentially 1/2 quality)

You can export flash FLV in any even numbered dimension as long as you use the On2 codec and not Sorenson when you export.

You have black bars because you are trying to do this in a standard project like 720x480. You need to create a Custom project profile at 500x576 (I am just assuming the longer size is your width. If it is not, then switch that: 576x500). Now, import your AVI file to that project, and crop is there. You should basically crop inward until you reach the exact edges of your project preview frame. That will be the exact 500 x 576 basically.

Now, choose export, Adobe Media Encoder, FLV, On2 codec, 225x258 (or 258x225 if "258" is your width - sorry cannot do 259, it is odd), then export. Use at least 512kbps for video quality...if you have high motion in the video, then up the bitrate even more.

    Good luck
