  2. I use this mehtod all the time and the file size ranges no higher EVER than 28 mb off the predicted file size.

    This is what i do-

I use a calc thats not on this site to get my TRUE cbr bitrate, then i stop right there, cuz i have to explain something.

If this is a dvd rip in d2v or avi, u wanna set ur max 80 kb\sec higher than what my calc gave ya so if it said it would be 1012, go ahead and set it to 1100 and 0 as the min and quality at 58.
I use CQ_VBR as for some reason gives just aas good results as 2 pass vbr(havent tried new type yet).

    Hope that helps you.

  3. thats what i used to use too! but since about 4-5hours ago i have been mucking around with TMPGENC 2.52plus using 2pass VBR at high quality(slow)and the results have been better than i thought 2 pass is as fast as the old CQ VBR but much much nicer the picture is crystal clear. on 51cm tv and 70 odd cm tv but i do use high bitrates about 2250 max 1950av at 352x288 mpeg1 224kbs sound thats why i was curious on knowing if there was away of working it out i really only want about 50 mins on each 80 min disk i can get that now but only half of the disk is used i want to use the whole disk but have about 100mbs left over so ive got some room to work with when it comes time to split movie

The results from Vhs are also quite clear which is where most of my stuff comes from anime series, star trek, lots of old sci fi movies\horror
