I am using the following to add subtitles from an ssa file to an avi while encoding it to VCD.
- virtual dub 148
- tmpgenc 2.02
The problem is that it appears that tmpgenc crashes some where near the end of the filmclip. The frameserver remains open and apparently operational.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a solution?

Here is some more detail on the problem. The movie that I am subtitling cam in two pieces. The second hafl worked perfectly with virtualdub serving frames to tmpgenc with no error. When the film was finished, tmpgenc remained open and waited for me to close it down.
The first half of the movie consistently bombs out at the very end, with seconds of the completion of the segment. Is it possible that the file is not properly terminated and if so, what can I do about it? -
Have you tried to do a File Save with VirtualDub? You may want to try that, save the AVI to a different name, open it up with VirtualDub again and try FreameServe. Not sure if that will work, but it will save to the Virtual AVI format.
