I recently installed ffdshow generic build (stable), December 22, 2008, and whenever i open the video or audio settings GUI, it takes quite a few secs. Also switching between "tabs" takes longer than with my previous build (it was from 2007 i think). Why is this? I have AMD Duron 1600, 1,5gig of RAM and XP. I really dont like this current ffdshow, since it works so slow, the GUI. :/
I uninstalled the previous version before installing this new.
EDIT. Problem solved by installing ffdshow_rev2946_20090515_clsid_sse_icl10 (SVN build).
