When you say it twice within the same post, it leads me to wonder...

oh yeah this is what all the drunk people are doing nowadays...logging onto their computers and changing their passwords. oh well at least they can't murder a family on the highway this way...unless they have the laptop in their lap changing passwords and lanes at the same time.

Try this one, I've used it once from a floppy on an old XP machine and it works.

    http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

Boot from the disk and the password is erased.

yep, used that one before at work to get into machines where the local admin password was not what it should have been.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. You can also restart the computer and at the BIOS screen hit F8 and go into safe mode. Once in safe mode, select the administrators account, which will often have a blank password. Then go into the control panel and go into user accounts. Select manage other accounts. Choose the other account and remove the password.

That is fairly hit or miss though in my experience.

I prefer the "nuke the administrator password completely" approach as it is 99.9% guaranteed to work, every time.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I know what you are saying, but IME, editing the SAM file with a program does not always work either. YMMV
