    Hi;

I used TMPGEnc Editor's MPEG tools to demultiplex a vob file into the following:

    Code:
    VTS_01_1.m2v
    VTS_01_1.ac3
    VTS_01_1-01.ac3
    VTS_01_1-0xBF.dat
    VTS_01_1-0xBE.dat
However, after editing the MPEG video to fix some small artifacts in the beginning (I basically replaced the damaged frames with identical frames from another DVD of the same series), I couldn't find a program that would include the .dat files when multiplexing back to VOB (as a matter of fact the only program that I could find that would even mutiplex into VOB was ImagoMPEG-Muxer!).

If any of you could point me to a program that will mux all of these files into VOB I will be very grateful!

What are the .dat files ?

If they are mpeg-1 VCD .dat files then you will have to demux the mpg video so you can use it.

I'm not sure; I've included a screenshot showing the file size of the various items. When played in mplayer/VLC it doesn't show anything at all...it loads, shows nothing (no screen at all) for a few seconds, and then closes.

You're probably wondering why I don't just forget about them, but I want the final VOB to be close to identical to the one I started off with after replacing the damaged frames. And of course they probably serve some obscure purpose that would render the DVD obsolete if I were to remove them. I mean something demultiplexed them...so I'm thinking there has to be a way to put them back in VOB.

Edit: They're not from VCD; they were ripped from a DVD5.

.dat files are not part of the DVD structure. I suspect they are a product of your editing, possibly temporary files created by the editor.

There's dozens of them that will create a DVD structure from M2V video and AC3 audio. Maybe try Muxman next time. And as guns1inger says, forget about the DAT files.

Finally, someone else using the wonderful little tool called TMPGEnc MPEG Editor.

Those .dat files mean nothing. Just disregard them as they're probably padding packets or container overhead or whatever.

As for muxing (multiplexing) into a .vob, you don't really have to unless you're authoring. You can just mux into an .mpg file in the meantime. When you're ready to author, just load these streams into your author app (either the .mpg file straight or the demultiplexed .m2v/.ac3 separately depending on the app) and it will create the DvD structure for you - all VOBs, IFOs and BUPs. (No .dat files though - a non-issue.)
I hate VHS. I always did.

Ok; I'll disregard the .dat files then. Thanks for the help!
