    I just got a response back from cyberlink's tech support. if you want to change when powerVCR splits up your mpgs (default is every 600 megs) add this to your registry:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CyberLink\PowerVCR II]
    "MaxRecSizeMB"=dword:000007d0

    the value is in Hex.. in this case it's set to 4000 decimal, which is 4gigs (fat32 file limit on win2k/xp systems).. if you're using ntfs then feel free to up this some more, and if you're using fat32 on a win98 machine, drop it down to 2gigs (limit on fat32 in win98)

    You mean 4GB (limit on a single file in FAT32), not 2GB. I do captures of over 2GB (but less than 4GB) to as a single file on a FAT32 Win98SE box I have when my main (XP/NTFS) box is busy with another vid capture.

    This tip is to get PowerVCR to do bigger files is nifty though, thanks!
    As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

    maybe i was thinking of win95's fat 32 being limited to 2 gigs.. maybe i'm totally wrong . oh welll..

    as for the powervcr thing.. i can't believe that a) there's no option to set the size to split by and b) that by default there's no reg key to set teh size, so it implicitly sets to 600 megs, and without an exisitn key in the registry, there's no way for a user to figure out how to change this..
