I'm trying to convert vhs tapes to dvd using a KWorld DVD Maker PCI card. I don't know the exact model number (I think it was on the bar code which I sent in for a rebate and never received.) First I tried the software that came with the card and got decent enough video on the resulting short capture that I did, but no sound whatsoever through the speakers or on the resulting file. Then I remembered that I have MainConcept, so I tried it. Same results - decent video but no sound.

Other than the issue of no sound, the card seems to work OK so far. I haven't tried to capture an entire movie yet, because of the sound problem. The very short (less than a minute or so) captures seem to be good. At least as good as I expected of an old vhs tape. Of course, I haven't yet tried to burn the results to a DVD.

I'm running XP with an Inel Core 2 Duo processor.
The audio source that automatically appears when I do the capture setup is Realtek AC97 Audio.
The capture source is Conexant 2388x Video Capture.

    Could this be codec problem?

    Help will be appreciated.
