I've been trying to convert a QuickTime movie (MOV file) to an MPEG-2 file using "MediaCoder" with unsatisfactory results.
I want to eventually put this movie on a DVD, using MPEG Video Wizard DVD, but the converted file loses its audio and the video plays back at higher-than-normal speeds. I've experimented with different settings with no luck.
Is there a good tutorial out there that can explain the process of converting one type of audio/video file to another, and the best converter(s) to do so? Thanks.

I have the same problem. I am trying to find a codec that will let me convert any quicktime.mov file to mpeg2 but so far i've tried FFdshow and it will let me open some quicktime movies in most encoders but I still am getting the odd one that doesn't open.
