    Hey all,
I've just tried playing one of the many video files on my computer, however there appears to be faint coloured lines appearing on the video. I was watching a movie 12 hours ago without any problems and this just happened now. No changes were made (i.e installing/removing software/hardware).
Any ideas as to what it could be?
I've attached a screenshot to better explain the problem!
    Cheers!

Many of your video files but not all?
Tried played in another player like vlc or smplayer(they have built in codecs)?

It could be a video overlay graphics card issue. My video looked similar like that when my graphic card was overheated(the fan had died).

i've checked...it appears on all of them! Also, i saw the lines appearing on some parts of windows (such as the start button and taskbar at the bottom).
I've tried both players also and the same thing still occurs. I did try in windows media player and it occurred as well but very little compared to other players.
How can i check to see if the graphics card is causing this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  4. So the problem is your graphic card. Probably overheating. Does it occur when your computer is freshly started after a few hours of power off ???

Cause can be overheating or defecting memory chips on the card.

    Its working now guys!
All I did was to shut the computer off (from the mains) for 2 hours and restart it, works fine. May just have been an intermittent fault.

Thanks again for the help Baldrick and cd090580!!
